Aşk Kahvesi / Coffee of Love
Some drinks wake you up.
Others take your breath away.
Aşk Kahvesi is a drink that commands your attention—just like the word "Aşk" itself, a burning, all-consuming love. "Aşk" goes beyond simple affection. It is love that blinds reason, love that ignites the soul, love that cannot be tamed.
Made like traditional Turkish coffee, but spiked with whisky and melted dark chocolate, this intoxicating brew is an experience in itself:
The first sip is fire—a sharp, spicy rush of whisky and rich, velvety coffee that catches your breath in your throat.
The second sip is a sweet caress—the chocolate begins to melt through, softening the edges with its slow embrace.
By the third sip, you are left wanting more, as the warmth lingers on your lips and in your chest, much like a love you know will never truly fade.
Aşk Kahvesi is best shared, whether with a lover, a close friend, or perhaps… someone whose heart you hope to set ablaze.
Ingredients (For 2)
1 fincan* water
1 fincan whisky
2 tsp finely ground Turkish coffee
20 g dark chocolate
Equipment
* Fincan is small porcelain cup traditionally used for Turkish coffee. Typically featuring a handle, its volume is similar to that of a demitasse (or a shot glass).
Directions
BREWING
In a cezve (Turkish coffee pot), combine 1 fincan water, 1 fincan whisky, and 2 teaspoons of Turkish coffee. Stir gently until the coffee is fully mixed.
Place the cezve over medium heat and slowly bring the mixture to a boil.
Just before it reaches a boil, carefully pour some of the dark matte foam into two fincan (Turkish coffee cups), filling them halfway.
ADDING THE CHOCOLATE
Reduce the heat to low and add the dark chocolate to the remaining coffee in the cezve. Swish gently until the chocolate has fully melted.
Top-off the cups with the chocolate-infused coffee.
SERVING
Serve immediately, hot and strong, with a glass of cool water on the side.
Take your first sip—feel the fiery whisky ignite your senses. Take your second sip—let chocolate soften the burn. By the third sip, you’ll understand why Aşk Kahvesi is unforgettable…
Afiyet Olsun
[Notes from the Kitchen]
What is Aşk? “Sevgi” (‘sev-ghee) is the Turkish word for warm, selfless love. "Aşk" (‘ahshk)—though widely used in Turkish—is a borrowed word from Arabic (عشق (‘ishq) meaning love and passion). In both languages, it describes a more fiery, blinding kind of love; a passion so strong it consumes, a devotion so intense it defies reason.
Whisky Selection: Choose a rich, smoky whisky for depth, or a smoother, slightly sweet whisky for balance.
Chocolate Choice: The higher the cocoa content, the more bittersweet the final sip. Aim for 70% dark chocolate.
Cooking Tip: As with regular Turkish coffee, after the ground coffee is thoroughly mixed in, do not disturb the liquid —this ensures a rich foam develops properly.
Serving Tradition: Turkish coffee is traditionally served with a glass of water to cleanse the palate before the first sip, or to rinse excess acidity after the final sip—practices vary based on personal taste. We suggest honouring this tradition with Aşk Kahvesi.
Perfect for Special Nights: Whether after an elegant dinner, a late-night conversation, or as a bold move in romance, this drink creates an unforgettable moment.
Aşk Kahvesi is an experience in its own right. A moment of heat, of indulgence, of intensity. Whether shared with a lover, a confidant, or simply enjoyed in solitude, it is a drink that lingers on your lips and in your memory.
So go ahead—ignite your senses. Taste Aşk. 😘
