I’m the author of Fairies’ Cuisine, an architect turned culinary enthusiast with a passion for preserving Turkish heritage through the art of cooking.

Born into the dream city of Istanbul and privileged to explore and touch its historical treasures, I became captivated by the culinary culture of this unique metropolis, reminiscent of a fairy tale. Whether these flavours are served on bustling streets or in renowned restaurants, the most popular tastes among Istanbulite's are always those that evoke the warmth of homemade meals. Preserving, updating, and passing on Istanbul’s millennia-old tradition of home cooking is not just a passion but a mission close to my heart

Fairies’ Cuisine is a platform where I share the practical wisdom and expertise accumulated over years of culinary exploration, passed down from my great great grandmother to my mom and then to me.
From ‘hosting gatherings’ to ‘crafting seasonal menus’, I invite you to join me on this journey of intergenerational wisdom one dish at a time.

Goal of Fairies’ Cuisine

We dream of a world where no one is intimidated by the idea of preparing a homemade meal, and for generations after this to have the tools and wisdom for making daily, nutritious meals to achieve and maintain holistic health!…

To achieve this goal, we:

  • Simplify the preparation and cooking steps for easy delivery of key points

  • Measure all ingredients and convert them to North American cup scales as well as international measurement units (cm, mL, g)

  • Describe the consistency, colour, and smell of food at every stage of preparation to avoid mistakes that arise from variations in ingredients or appliances

  • Provide traditional and aesthetic serving ideas for every recipe and give you nutritional tips supported by tradition and science to inspire healthy combinations for balanced meals 

Inspiration for creating Fairies’ Cuisine

The initial motivation for filming these recipes was to create a modern, accessible, and organized cook book for my children as they were leaving home to go to university.

Starting with humble beginnings on Youtube, the incredible interest in Turkish cuisine and home cooking in general has transformed Fairies’ Cuisine into an international community for sharing expertise and learning from home chefs around the world!

    The heart and soul behind Fairies' Cuisine, Fatma is a passionate cook with a deep love for Turkish culinary traditions. As the creator and founder of the Fairies' Cuisine YouTube channel and recipe website, she combines her knowledge of authentic recipes with cultural history, inviting viewers and readers to experience the rich flavors and stories of Turkish cuisine. Her dedication to sharing these cherished traditions has turned family meals into a celebration of culture and connection.

    The daughter and right-hand partner of Fairies' Cuisine, Ece brings her keen editorial eye and creative energy to the family venture. She initially served as editor for the YouTube channel and now designs and manages the website. She also authors the cultural blog on the site, where she explores Turkish food's rich history, international influences, and kitchen tips. With a passion for storytelling, she adds depth to the recipes by connecting them to their cultural roots.
